ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for this stream of immigration to Canada, you must meet the following minimal requirements:
- Education: Must have completed at least two years of full-time education at an accredited Alberta post-secondary institution leading to a degree or diploma;
- Work permit: Must possess a valid Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) for a minimum of two years at the time of submission of your Expression of Interest (EOI);
- Language: Must have a minimum of a 7 on the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) for each English skill (reading, writing, hearing, and speaking), or a 7 on the Canadian Language Benchmark (NCLC) for each French skill.
- Establishment of a Business: Must establish a new business or acquire an existing business in Alberta with a minimum of 34% ownership. Your business partners must be citizens of Canada or permanent residents of Canada. The business must qualify. Consult the list of businesses that are not qualified here.
- Work Experience: Must have a minimum of six months of work experience, including actively managing or owning a firm or an equivalent combination of the two. This condition must be met before filing your EOI.

BUSINESS REQUIREMENT:
You must ensure that your business satisfies all standards, or your Business Application may be denied.
Your firm must have the potential to assist Alberta economically. Your planned business must meet the following general standards:
- The business’s objective must be to benefit from active income, not passive income;
- Your enterprise must adhere to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws, regulations, and licencing requirements;
- Your business must adhere to the province’s required trade certification criteria;
- Your business must have a physical presence in the province of Alberta;
- If your firm is a franchise, you must meet the same ownership standards as other businesses. Additionally, you must demonstrate that you received assistance from the master franchisor to operate a franchise;
- You must own at least 34% of your firm, reside in Alberta, and be actively involved in its day-to-day management. This cannot be accomplished remotely.
