Through employer-driven immigration streams, the NTNP targets workers in skilled, semi-skilled, and low-skilled occupations. On the other hand, its business-oriented counterpart seeks entrepreneurs and business owners from all sectors to establish and grow new businesses in this remote northern region.
The NTNP accepts applications under two programs, one of which has three distinct streams:
Northwest Territories Employer Driven Program:
- Express Entry System for Skilled Workers
- Skilled Worker
- Entry Level/Semi-Skilled Occupations
Northwest Territories Business Immigration Program:
- Business Stream
EMPLOYER DRIVEN PROGRAM
Employer-Driven Streams in the Northwest Territories provide opportunities for foreign nationals who have experience in occupations classified as National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Level 0, A, B, C, or D and who have a full-time, permanent job offer from a qualified employer.
NORTHWEST TERRITORIES – EXPRESS ENTRY STREAM
The NTNP Express Entry Stream for Skilled Workers is intended to nominate Express Entry candidates who meet the Northwest Territories’ Skilled Worker stream’s eligibility requirements. Foreign nationals accepted into the federal Express Entry pool may apply for this Express Entry Stream for Skilled Workers.
SKILLED WORKER STREAM
The NTNP Skilled Worker Stream enables the Northwest Territories Government to nominate individuals who have been offered a skilled position by a Northwest Territories employer. Applicants must have worked in the position for a minimum of six months in the Northwest Territories.
ENTRY LEVEL/SEMI-SKILLED OCCUPATIONS
The NTNP Entry Level/Semi-Skilled Occupations programme enables the Government of the Northwest Territories to assist employers in filling entry-level job shortages when they are unable to find a qualified Canadian candidate locally or nationally. Applicants must have worked in the position for a minimum of six months in the Northwest Territories.
NORTHWEST TERRITORIES BUSINESS DRIVEN PROGRAM
The Northwest Territories Business Driven streams provide opportunities for entrepreneurs and business owners looking to establish a new business in the Northwest Territories. While the programme accepts applications from all economic sectors, businesses that contribute significantly to the economy of the Northwest Territories or introduce a new product will be given priority when applying for provincial nomination.
